3 Reasons Your Social Media Marketing Isn’t Working

You don’t need me to tell you that social media marketing is an important part of your marketing strategy and you can’t compete if you don’t get it right. Social media marketing is one of those things that people often think is simple, just post a couple of ads on there every day and you’re done. In reality, there’s a lot more to it than that and there are plenty of things that you can do wrong. If your social media marketing campaign isn’t working, you could be making one of these mistakes.

Not Using A Professional

If you think that you can save money by dealing with all of the social media stuff yourself, or just having one of your other employees do it alongside their normal day to day tasks, you’re wrong. If you aren’t using a professional to handle it for you, you won’t see any returns and you’ll just be burning money. You either need to hire somebody to do it in house or outsource to a digital marketing agency to handle it for you. A professional digital marketing agency knows exactly how to target posts to your audience and increase your reach in ways that you just can’t do on your own.

Not Being Consistent

If people see the occasional post from you at odd times of the day, they’ll quickly forget about you. If you want them to become regular readers of your posts, you need to be posting consistently. Scheduling posts is the best way to do it, that way you can always be creating a backlog of content and rolling it out at the same times every single day. Constantly appearing on people’s newsfeeds is half the battle when you’re trying to get people to engage with your posts.

As well as consistency with your posts, you need to be consistent with the way that you’re wording them. People tend to engage more with social media campaigns that have a distinct personality that reflects the company. If you’re not using the same tone in all of your posts, it’ll feel less like a person and more like a company, which is not what consumers want. Adopt a tone that appeals to your customer base and stick with it.

Using The Wrong Networks

Different social media platforms are best suited for different things, so it’s important that you’re choosing the right ones. Twitter and Facebook are a good general platform for most companies but if you’re using a lot of visual content in your posts, they’re not always the best. Platforms like Snapchat and Instagram are far better if you’re using a lot of photo and video content. You’ve also got to consider the demographic that you’re after. Younger people are starting to move away from using Facebook and, to some extent, Twitter. A lot of them are spending more time on Instagram or Snapchat instead. You should always have a presence on all of those networks but put more resources into one or two depending on what your aims are.

Social media marketing is constantly evolving so it’s important that you’re always aware of the latest trends and you’re avoiding these common mistakes.
